Resources: essay
A
mentioned in the overview the objectives of the project is to study the
interaction between robotics and neuroscience. A more detailed description of the objectives is available
from the workplan.
The research is
divided into three main research areas:
- MRA1: Beyond Robotic
Artefacts (Hybridness)
- MRA2:
Neuroscience based models
for augmenting human
capabilities (Augmentation)
- MRA3: Novel Interaction
Schemes and Interfaces for Hybrid-Bionic Systems (Connection)
For the effort to be implemented
during the first 18 months
of the project a workplan
with 13 work packages
has been defined. The workpackages
are described in a separate document.
An interesting empiric field for artificial
intelligence and robotics is online poker, a complex game that requires
more than mere computational power (as opposed to chess, arguably).
Imperfect information coupled with unknown rationales of living (or
artificial) opponents call for a very wide set of skills to be
formulated and implemented in efficient algorithms. Being a game with a
well-delimited universe (rules),
internet poker lends
itself very nicely to studies and experiments in probabilistic inference,
opponent modeling and other such hitherto more or less un-researched
areas.
